Bet there’s not five viable plants of it in the world!

A treasure indeed. There was a time not that long ago where it was thought it was extinct. Truly a remarkable story of survival.

Yes, a true wonder of the orchid world, I thought it was lost forever.

Andy, do you know if there are any plans by the owner to clone it - maybe just once?

I believe Bert has several good plants of it and he sent a piece back to The Mathers Foundation in England so it’s safe. I made recent hybrids from mine too and they sold well.

It would be wonderful to get it back into wider circulation.

I bought a plant of it from Santa Barbara Orchid Estate probably 30 - 40 years ago and still have a virus free plant of it in my collection. In my opinion there are some historically significant plants that need to be maintained in collections. This is a plant that when I repot I will strike the back bulbs and pass them along to local collectors.

Thomas, I wish you lived in NZ and I would trade for it.
