We are coming to appreciate this plant more and more and as it is closely held, we don´t have to worry about wannabe´s making silly hybrids with it! It never has viable pollen which limits some opportunities for us. I mention this because I would love to use it onto some of our new 6n´s.
Let me pass on one experience with 6n plants. So far, I have had zero luck using any pollen off any 6n onto any diploid. I don´t know why this occurs but all my 6n X 2n breeding is in that order, never 6n onto any 2n. You can be sure we´ve made numerous attempts. Again, if there was any serious orchid research going on at a reputable US University, someone might look more closely at this phenomenon.
